    Default help,price for cat on 1.9cdti 16v.

Just got my vectra back from stealers, a full service(80,000miles) and cambelt change ,Asked them to look for small rattle noise comming from under car sounded like exhaust.
They now say it's the front part of the exhaust including the cat box on way out rattling..
Does any one know how much im looking at ££££££ (sitting down!!!)

Your car will definitely pass an MOT without a cat. Mine is off and passed no problem. However i kept my old cat this could easily be welded on to another car if you require it?

The rattle will be your flexi pipe and not the cat. On mine, it started blowing giving a whoooshing style noise so I ended up having the flexi pipe replaced instead of the whole cat exhaust as the flex had actually come away from some of it. A good welder simply chopped the old flex out and welded in a new piece....good as new!

OR, some people on here have noticed a rattle similar to the one you are having and have done a DIY repair with a large jubilee clamp. LOOK HERE, before you spend loads of ££££'s on the whole cat pipe!

I found out how much a Cat-pipe would be for my ex-1.9 CDTI 120 SRI and they quoted me £480.00 ish plus VAT!!!

GO the DIY route I say mate!
