    Default BSR Query

I've seen members on here saying they've got stage-1 BSR remaps for their 2.0T engines and that they've now got 220-225 BHP. LMF's website claims stage 1 gives the 2.0T an extra 29 BHP, taking it to 204. How are peeps getting the extra 16-21 BHP without stage 2?

Must be down to the rolling road

    So go figure

Thanks - deffo won't let it put me off, just wanted to make sure I didn't buy the "inferior" stage 1 and get less than I could have

Altho...am temopted by TorquingBHP's remap rather than BSR, as they're claiming 220 (up 45 from standard), but one way or the other, she's getting remapped...hence the oil change I've just done in preparation

Its random per engine TBH. I think the 204BHP claim is the minimum you'd see... so anything above that is normal, but again, you've got the differences in Rolling roads etc...

BSR claim 204bhp for model years up to and including 2005, and 215bhp and 220 bhp for 2006/2007 and 2008 respectively, because of minor differences in those model years, relating to turbo type and engine internals. BSR figures are believed to be conservative as they are often exceeded on rolling roads. LMF are quoting BSR's own figures as they are acting as agents for the BSR PPC remap.

There is believed to be an element of pot luck in what actual figure you get on a rolling road as it is a 'snapshot' of what the engine was calculated as producing on a given date/time on a particular dyno and carried out by a particular tester. Better than expected figures are a pleasant surprise.TBH

As Soulman says you will not be disappointed with a Stage 1 BSR remap. It has been suggested that rival companies claiming more power for less money may be a tad optomistic.

BSR Stage 2 is an exhaust upgrade, and Stage 3 is the same upgrade with other ancilliary changes and a power hike to a claimed 235+bhp for about £1100.

One or two have had unexpected issues on here with Stage 3.

The beauty of Stage 1 IMO is that you just install it. No changes whatsoever are required to exhaust system or engine components.

Also I believe Stage 3 requires the use of super unleaded fuel only.

Very true!! but today 2x bsr signum's were on the rollers 1x stage 1 and 1x stage 3. Both cars down on power due to high air temps 23-26c.Mine the stage 3 car =213.7hp@71mph with torque 293lbs/ft@3762 rpm.Matt&Jemz stage 1 car got 190hp can't recall the torque but both cars down by 20-25 bhp.Matt had his car on the same rollers last week and got 214hp at 16c so all depends on time, place and temp.

Hopefully will get the car in for a service Monday or Tuesday so will see if they can get in on the rollers early on about same temperature as before and see what happens as we shouldn't lose 20bhp after fitting a bsr downpipe and new exhaust.
