    Default Serious Problem with Vectra

    My Girlfrind has 2004 Vectra.

This morning it died on here while driving.

    A few things happened.

    • The Anti lock Brake system light and Electronic Stability Program lights can on
    • Then the Engine management light came on
    • the then power steering light came on and power steering stops working
    • While all this was happening she noticed that teh temperature gauge was in the red
    • then the oils pressure lights, battery light and brake system lights came on
    • then it died

If you leave it a few minutes it will start again, but sooner stop again.

Does anyone know what is wrong?

At a guess, either earth strap loose, or the alternator has died.

Forgot to mention that the power steering also stops working when the light comes on......edited previous post to included that fact

Wsa thinking that it was an alternator.....but would that be the problem when it runs OK or a while?

Hopefully nothing major it does sound like an earth problem or a short. Have you had any work done recently which may have chafed wiring?

Blew the engine up at 20k, got it rebuilt under warranty. Otherwise totally standard.

Everything you list including the power steering is electrically operated. Definately sounds like there's a bad connection somewhere.
