    Default VXR insurance gone crazy

Last year I insured with Chris Knott Insurance through Highway. Cost £529 per annum

I've been told that this years renewal would increase by at least 20% taking it to around £635 per annum

    However, I made some changes

    - Increased the value of the car to £20,000 (due to like for like modification replacements)
    - Reduced the annual mileage to 5,000 (as I dont use it often anymore)
    - Increased the list of modifications (due to all the extra stuff this year)

Adrian Flux came in at £500 on the nose using Marcus Study? underwriter

Excess went up slightly to £400 (instead of £300) but everything else was very similar to Highway

So.. I'm reasonably happy with that for what it is....

I think im correct in saying Chris knott will only insure up to a 20bhp increase in power now anyway. Also dont think they use Highway anymore. ( Happy to be corrected on both comments). Green light seem to be the way to go at the moment if you have a suitable post code

I phoned them up for a quote and was on my mobile, as they advertise a ringback service if your on the mobile i asked the guy if he could phone me back so he took my number and said he would ring me right back........... That was 6 months ago lol. That kind of made my mind up after reading horror stories about them.

Im sure lots of people are happy with them aswell.

Pretty sure you are right mate, which is pointless when most re-maps and tuning boxes give way more that 20bhp. I thought the whole idea of modified car insurers is that they insure the majority of modified cars.

I feel they will lose alot of customers through that new rule.

Im waiting for my renewal now, should be here very soon (how much before end of policy do Chris knoots send it out?)

By sounds of things though, C/K seems to be getting very expensive according to alot of people, maybe they need to get a little more competitive if they wanna stay advertised on this board?

CK were approx two/three weeks behind when I spoke to the cust service team few weeks ago.

CK couldnt match my quote from Sky with the car being standard LOL wanted like 670 for standard and sky did 690 with all mods etc.

AF were £6 more expensive than CK were for my modded renewal.

Funnily enough CK did exactly the same here. Anyone seeing a second year price hike pattern?
