Default Water in boot with pics added advice needed

Back Windscreen started to mist up and condensation inside of window.Looked at aerial base which has deteriorated and came apart when i checked round it . Stripped out all the back interior panels to get to head lining and found water droplets near aerial all round as you can see in pics .Next step is to seal this .Got some black silicon sealant ,my idea was to remove Ariel completely and seal the base then install Ariel back and seal round the edges on top of the roof .Question would you reinstall the rubber seal under the base and seal the rubber base to the Ariel then seal the complete base to top of the roof or would you discard the seal altogether and seal the Arial straight to the top of the roof and then round the edges.? What a pain to get to the Arial .

When you remove the rear drivers side panel be really careful not to pull on the white ribbon cable in the pic as you are in trouble if this gets damaged .Thinking of putting some sealant round the window seals while the panels are off even though they are not leaking .Is it just a matter of undoing the plastic nuts then adding sealant to the black seal round the glass then reinstall .Have not removed Arial yet as time was running out so taped round top of Arial and put some towels in the hole underneath in case it gets through .Any tips appreciated .

Personally, id keep the old base on if you cant find a replacement and id seal around the existing seal.

Id use masking tape to give you a guide around the base, when its removed it'll look nice and neat.

Id also stick some sealer around the hole on the roof before you put the aerial on and secure it in.

the rubber base isn't the primary seal, there is a square 'O' ring around where the aerial goes through the roof. that's the only bit you need to seal.

Do you mean seal this part from top of roof outside of car or under where roof lining is ? Cheers

as Rab said, a bit of sealant around the hole, outside, then put the aerial back in. that should do it.
