    Default Intermediate service

    well having covered about 14K since the last service I decided to get myself 5l of GM fully synthetic a new oil filter and more important a new fuel filter.

    The oil filter really needed a ramp to get proper access under the car plus the drain plug was obviously screwed in by the incredible hulk!!!

    The fuel filter was a bit scary making sure I didn't break the blue tangs on the clips but they did come out fine/

    The top unscrewed with a gentle tap with a flat screwdriver and a small hammer and then came the element!!!!!

    My good god it was black filthy boggin' manky!!! I firmly believe it was the OEM one.

    I spilt some diesel down onto the undertray removing the element but got everything back onto the engine with no issues and she re-started fine.
    I did have a small leak from the top collar area but another gentle tap to tighten it and it is now wiped down de-greased and bone dry.

    Another wee task done and dusted.

    Should also replace the sump plug and washer, at every oil change

    Y'know, I did look at them but decided not to, and from the state of the one on the car in THREE!! Vx main dealer services no one has ever changed mine. I did put on a new copper washer though

    Dealership has always changed mine, confirmed each time by colour dye (although I think they are wise to that now)

    ive never replaced the sump on cdti i change the oil every 6 months.
