Had some time off work today so got stuck into the EGR. Car was running ok to be fair but I like things to do, also had a new egr restrictor to fit.
So very easy to do, take the four bolts off and the clip and bobs your uncle. Took ten min's. The valve inside looked quite sooty and the hole into the inlet was full of gunk. Took the whole thing apart after reading the 'how to's' on here (very helpful i must say!). Then drilled a hole and tapped the insides out...... Well they looked brand new, every thing was very shiny and my car has done 50k
. They look like the parts are coated in something to stop corrosion so not sure if this is a newer part. Hey ho, still greased evey thing up and cleaned all the muck out of the other part of the valve and then the inlet hole. Whilst I was at it i cleaned the boost sensor. Then refitted and used the new restrictor which has a 8mm hole in it to reduce sooting. Car does seem a little better at half throttle and low down so a happy bunny really. Very easy to do. Car did seem to get better mpg after this lot, not sure if its the new restrictor or just the dam good clean out thats helped.
Also fitted my insignia whasher jets, much less hassle than on my Astra. Took 2 mins!
