    Default Vectra CDTI SRI (120)

    Hiya,

Going to have a look at a car tomorrow

Its a 05 plate 1.9 CDTi SRi, with 105,000 miles. Is there anything I should be particularly cautious about? If the clutch/DMF hasn't been done, should I bother looking?

Body work wise, it seems ok in the photos.

    Thanks for any help!

    Dave

well you"ve got no swirlflaps on 120 model so thats a bonus.yep i think the clutch is the one to listen for - see what history / bills owner has.make sure car still drives well and revs nicely.120 still has egr valve and when clogged can make it a dog to drive. also this model is great with a tuning box on - had mine for 30k and with box on completely transformed car in terms of performance and mpg.

well worth it , its amazing how much extra performance is available with box on.also my mpg went up slightly if driven normally !!! but the temptation to put your foot down a bit is always there but equally knowing you have it on tap if required.

    Not strictly true

Apparently there were a few vectras that came out with a detuned 150bhp engine but for the life of me can't remember where I read that. The only difference was that It was mostly software that brought the power down to the 120 mark so with a remap it would be back up to the 150 or even 180/190bhp mark.

Few things I would say to look out for, would be the occasional twang from the front springs, when steering left or right. Try turning to full lock in both directions, could indicate a broken spring which these are renowned for

Another thing that I have noticed more and more just recently is brake creep (when pressing the brake peddle it will depress to the floor after a few seconds. Which could indicate corroded pipes/servo or rubber grommets in master cylinder allowing air in. Not hugely common but starting to notice a few threads about it on here

Other than the Clutch/DMF or EGR issues they are quite a reliable car

    Hope it helps

other than the DMf i'd say next is cambelt/waterpump change , this is a must as they can go without warning and the waterpump does not always get done when it should , so check service records , cold starting can be a pain too , so make sure it fires straight up when ice cold
