Anyone experienced this?
-6 when I left work last night, car started normally but has to sit around for the ice on the inside of the windscreen. On the way home this started to happen:
-Battery light came on and the car was idling fast (1k rpm)
-Next, the stearing was feeling heavy and starting to sound a bit rough as I pulled away at lights etc.
-Next, the power steering went completely and the ABS light came on.
-Next, ABS light off and the stearing & airbag lights went on.
-The blower / heater, and a few random electricals went off.
-The spanner light came on (I already suspected a problem!!).
-I pulled over and stopped when the dashboard display died (speedo etc).
The car wouldn't turn over immediately but I got it to turn over again after 5 minutes and back to normal, for 30 seconds, then the above started again just much quicker. Ended up with nothing inside the cabin working except the sat nav/ main display which was rapidly switching between day & night mode.
When I pulled over the Police, who has been following the suspicious 'Disco Car' (I could't see them as the rear heater was not working either), said all the lights were flashing on the outside! The police, by the way, were extremely helpful and got the jumpers to start me up and help me park up somewhere safe near my inlaws. Didn't make it home.
Still waiting on the RAC today, anybody got any advice? My suspicion is that it is simply the battery (it wouldn't turn over by itself) and this is what happens when a computer is in control of your car??
I'm scared to go near it this morning as it might see me coming and attempt to run me over!
