Noises from engine

standing next to my car at nearside with engine running there was a tapping noise that sounded like it was comeing from the wheel arch area, so jumped round and reved it and my mate said it changed with the revs

also had my stat changed by arnold shark last friday and noticed they had well overfilled the coolant so was using turkey baster to empty but heard another noise hissing this time from the engine bay more towards the left and up towards the cab, the tapping noise i heard had dissapeared by the time i got home, but this hissing noise is bothering me could it be the noise of the fuel getting pumped through the filter as the noise is near there. Had an oil and filter change last tuesday as well.

the tapping noise might just be the injectors mate

A hissing noise would normally be either the induction of the air being sucked into the air box, or more likely on a turbo car, a split hose somewhere on the turbo.

Hissing may be the flexi in the exhaust.

ah, i removed the air box intake tube as per a airbox thread, havent had my head in the engine bay since doing it, maybee thats the noise, but it seems to be comeing from the back of the engine.

Flexi sits down the back of the engine. If it is check for any fumes coming from underneath the car.

Possibly but I didn't. Just noticed them escaping from under the car.

did you hear the hissing from inside car or when it's ideling will check for fumes tommorrow, onlyway i can hear it is to lift bonnet and stick my head near fuel filter.

Hissed and there was a 'blowing' noise under hard acceleration, but my flex was literally in two bits.
