I got N11 THW and have it as N11TH W . I have done over 45K miles and never been tugged. even my congestion charge fines show a pic of my car clearly showing the plates to be illegally spaced, but they dont do anything!

I always carry a legal pair of plates and some double sided tape just incase!

So long as the font is legal, the rozzers dont seem bovered.....£35 pound fine i think.

ive got a private plate, S333 EAR i had it spaced S33 3EAR.

i got stopped by the police for over taking in a no overtaking area, but he couldnt do me for th eovertaking thing cus its only an advisory no overtaking area, so he went over my car and gave me a producer for my plate. (he missed the 2 day out of date tax disc which i forgot to change (had the new one)).

To be honest 99% of cops wouldn't be interested in wasting their time on something like that as they can still read the plate clearly from a good distance

It's the italics and other strangely printed letters that cause problems as it's hard to identify some of these letters from a distance..

BUT..........you dont want to give the cops ANY excuse for pulling you over. And this gives them an excuse.....
It'll then be the inconvience and a potential fine....

We don't need an excuse.... can pull anyone we like for the purpose of checking driving documentation.

As long as the plate can be read, then its more hassle than its worth to pull you and write a ticket, so long as you're not committing any other road traffic offence! As long as the letters and numbers are the right size and shape, you not likely to attract any more attention from the cops than any other motorist.

It is however an offence to misrepresent the plate by altering the spacing, so you are taking a risk.

Which is comedy, as the DVLA charge sometimes extortionate amounts of money for plates that only make sense when you "budge the letters together a little bit".

As you might guess, I'm completely against the DVLA making any profit from selling number plates. Maybe I should start a petition...
