car starting problems please help!!!!!!!

Alright people having problems sometimes when starting car sometimes it start Fine others it makes like a grinding/ grating noise is this the starter motor or could it be something else? If it is how much are they roughly

If the noise is only when the key is turned to engage the starter motor (cranking),
then it could be a sticky starter/solenoid not fully engaging the fly wheel, or part worn fly wheel in one or two areas of the ring gear.
But........................
Take the starter out and then to a proper starter/alternator repairers, get them to check it over and repair, sometimes they just need cleaning as clutch dust can get in there.

Well I need a new clutch and flywheel so could that be the.prob im replacing them in couple of weeks think that would sort it?
