Default well thats the final nail in the coffin for the vec

we have had our 2005 2.2 vec sri for all of 2 weeks before the managment light came on and the car died. took ages to restart, just for it to cut out and die, it was undrivable. garage diagnosed the fault as p1191, relating to the fuel pump/pfr, not paying for that, tryed getting vx to cover some of the cost due to the 'recall' on these, no joy there, so with a new clutch on the horizon too, i am up **** creak lol, only option now is to break the car to minimise my losses, gutted 2005 car in great condition, with only 77k and it comes to breaking it due to the crazy price of a fuel pump, madness,

now to find another new car

Just checked eBay and there are loads of fuel pumps advertised, a couple going for around the £180 mark, and they are continental ones. Sorry cant put links up as using iPad. Type z22yh fuel pump in the search.

hi bud, if its the rubber seal that had broke you can fix this all your self, if you can get hand of a faulty second hand pump, you can also changeit over your self, what make is the one you have on your car?

there is also i belive a upgrade fuel pressure regulator, you need to check whats on your car, yo can fit these yourself.

yes the cost of new pumps is scandless, £252 + vat on the trade club from vauxhall, but have seen cheaper on ebay - stay away from seimens, unless of corse it is the seal that has shot in yours, i belive the siemens use the same rubber seals as the continental - like i say you can refurb your own if its the seal that has shot, there is 3 seals and one of them appears to to split, no one has ever been able to find a source for the new seals - if they did im positive we would be paying no more then a few quid for the offending seal.

also a new pump can have its benefits, if i ever bought a new pump id expect it to last 5 years at least, the sale of goods act comes into force, and it states you can claim up to 6 years, if i bought a new pump and it failed after 1 or 2 years and the place i bought it from refused to replace or repair it, id glady pay the £45 to take this matter to court.

if mine fails i will try n fix it if not it gets a brand new one fitted by myself. fo all you no the pump that is on your car could of been there since it was built, if its just failed now the to behonest i think it has lasted a fair while, hard to swallow yes, but dont scrap your car for the sake of a hpfp - fix it.

this is a better one, but can you honestly justify £185 on a used pump (could be 5 years old or more) when for slightly less then £100 you can get a brand new one?
