    Default Strange Odour

Wondering if any of you can help - can't remember if I asked about this, but when I turn on my Air Conditioning, I get an odar of what i can only describe as stale dogs s**t. I have checked the carpets and mats and they are fine, I know for definite now as when I switched it on tonight all of a sudden the smell poured into the car.

Is this the Air con due a service or is it on its way.

get the system de bugged. Probably full of bacteria in the system.. Got an aerosol from Tesco for about £4 which you set off inside the caar with the air con on recirc. Now smells faintly floral instead of pungent and stinky. The flowery smell does wear off btw - so you dont need to worry about smelling odd for the mrs!!

    Hi Mate

    Bit of both really.

Can understand why VX do not change pollen (cabin) filter every service. I was told only every second service when I challanged my dealer after my first service (14000). Checked the pollen filter myself and it was BLACK (littilarly) and full of dirt, dust, bugs, leaves and mould.

Moral of the story - change pollen filter every service - vx will do this only if you request and charge for it. £30 they wanted so I want to Halfrauds (cant remember how much but was a lot cheaper).

AFTER - no smelly oudor when first putting the air con on and off and the windows stopped steaming up - A MUST FOR ME

Part is about a tenner, will take you five minutes to change. Check the "How To" section. Not too much more complicated than opening the bonnet.

Cheers m8, well I have checked the pollen filter and it is black - is this the colour of the material - I don't think its been changed since 32k ago, maybe even longer. There are some leaves in there too. So maybe its the filter.

Cheers so Ican safely say the Pollen filter is 90% the culprit and needs urgent changing?

Will be chasing Vauxhall tomorrow then. Will they have to order it or is it generally something the stock?
