I was driving down the A41( speed limit 40mph) next minute there's an officer standing the middle of the road with a speed gun in his hand, so I was caught doing 69mph what do you think will happen points, fine or speed awareness course.

wont be speed awareness,.. perhaps try driving at the speed limit,.. 70mph in a 40 limit is not a slip, it's dangerous. Am sure you will get 3 points and a £60 fine as you are not exceeding the posted limit by 30mph, if you were then you'd be off to court.

speed awareness courses are for marginal infractions just over the posted limit as you have been 'careless'. Yours is a clear intention to speed and so will simply be prosecuted.

(ps - ANPR are the cars fitted to detect the plates for insurance and MOT purposes, not speeding - Automatic Number Plate Recognition)

Your decision to go at 70 in a 40, three points minimum and a fine is my guess also. Lucky he didn't clock you going faster, that'd be you possibly off the road straight off the bat.

As to what happens next, well on here you'll get loads of people giving you grief for speeding, some sympathising saying unlucky, everyone speeds sometimes. You'll find sackcloth, ashes and a box of kleenex in your pm box

lol this threads funny. Were you pulled over? If not how do you know you were doing 69? To be fair Vec speedos over read, so you will have been showing over 70 on the clock, so what ever you get just accept it and move on.
As for all the self righteous comments im glad that all other vectra drivers never ever speed. We all do it or have done it. We dont know anything about the situation. Time of day. Level of traffic. Section of the road (I think some of the A41 is duel carriageway)

Wonder how many of you do the speed limit everywhere you go because its legal instead of actually paying attention to the road conditions and location.

JJ0063, why do you say hopefully court? So he can cost the tax payer more money? Hopefully you will get 3 points and a £60(think its that still) fine. It'll make you more careful at least for the next few years.

Also at no point has the OP said what he was doing was right or that he doesnt deserve what he gets

I've heard the speedo over-reads, however when I set my cruise to 40 mph through a 40 limit (needle bang on 40) the speed signs that advise you of your speed also tell me I'm doing the speed indicated on my speedo. (maybe only way to accurately tell is with GPS?)

69 in an 40? No chance of a speed awareness course for that! TBH your lucky they are not doing you for dangerous driving, that must be about 75% over the speed limit.
