    Default Tuning vectra c 3.2 V6

Hi i have recently bought a 3.2 v6 vectra con a 53 plate, i want to improve the performance on the car but i dont have a clue where to start.

I have seen i few post on air filters/induction kits etc but to be honest i don't have the slightest clue where to start.

A fine purchase, if I may say! Not that I am biased...

The usual approach with a 3.2 appears to be something induction-related, such as "the airbox mod" (use the forum search ) and a K&N or similar panel filter, a cone filter (possible heat soak issues) or an enclosed cone filter with cold-air feed. A cat-back exhaust apparently can help improve pick-up and response. Then it's a remap. With those mods, you could be looking at a healthy 235 bhp or so at the flywheel. Not a vast increase but the improved response is worthwhile, I'd guess.

Mine is still bog stock and is fast enough for my tastes - and then some! But I do have some enhancements in mind...

I swear by the K&N Apollo filter. Very, very slight gain, but the sound is amazing. Apart from that it gets pretty pricey. Theres cams, throttle bodies etc. But few have done either as far as I know.

Go the intake -> exhaust -> remap route.

Foam Airfilter has to be the way to go for sound alone.

Panel filter+airbox mods or huge foam filter (I've had no heat soak issues), decatted exhaust(emmisions are fine due to pre-cats),Iridium plugs, remap.. mines approx 232-240 at the fly(depending on what calculations you use).. cams will give a lil more by narrowing the power band and rais.ing rev limit will free some up too.. the main issue with 3.2s is that the down pipes/pre cats are restrictive.. as far as i know pre cats can't be removed as sensors either side and ecu says 'no'.. big power gains can only be done by adding decatted downpipes, flowed manifolds and throttle bodies and stand alone ecu.. along with cams/lightening/balancing etc.. and after all that you're still only looking at vxr power... I'd go with the intake/exhaust/remap.. cost you about 700-800 for an extra 20-30 bhp

I went a slightly different route than just going for more power.
I fitted the 314mm brakes, braided hoses, eibach springs and a strut brace. I then went for a Panel filter, plugs and an exhaust.
Not sure the engine mods give it more power but it does seem to rev and pull better.

Personally though the best upgrade i made was improving handling. changing the tyres from 215/50/17 to 225/45/17 also helped on that front. (P6000's instead of cheap ones)

My rule of thumb is when somthing needs to be replaced upgrade it i have thrown way to much money at cars in the past.

I tried a Pipercross Viper closed induction kit on mine and throttle response didn't seem to be the same, so i've stuck with my panel filter and airbox mod.
As for a remap there has been some threads about bore wash (not sure what they mean by this) so the only way to do this would be a live map.
Finally i have had an MIJ exhaust fitted and had it de catted whilst there and when the car was put on the rolling road a few months after my horsepower was up by 10 bhp.

If its way overfueling you get non atomised fuel washing the oil film off the cylinder wall causing rapid wear.
