Default Today's disaster getting ready for Luton Heritage meet...

Started washing the car today to start getting it prepped for the Luton Heritage meet tomorrow and my jet wash decided to kindly remove a couple of inch square section of paint off my passenger front wing for me thanks to the really cruddy paint job done by the repair shop when I had my minor prang last year

Initial toys thrown out of pram, "fek it we're not going" reaction and much paddying ensued...

Then I calmed down and decided to do something about it...

Still needs wet sanding back to bring it level and polishing out, but I can't do that for a day or two, so it looks like it's going to Luton looking like that which I guess isn't any better than before but at least looks like it's being dealt with now

Also took the opportunity to re-spray the knackered wing mirror cover that I've been meaning to sort out and am in the process of replacing the mirror assembly with the one PaulHB kindly gave me after my mirror took a hit from a lorry a few months back (thanks again Paul)

Just hoping there's enough original paint and lacquer left on it to take me blending the new one in with 2000 grit (once it's cured) and then cutting. Pretty much expecting to start it and end up taking all the paint off around the new bit and end up having to get the whole wing re-sprayed. Problem is I can't be without the car as I need it for work and finances being rock bottom means no other options available to me. Even though I know Kev would spray it for me if I asked him, I just can't be without the car for him to have it long enough for it to cure.

That is not good at all. Were you spraying up from the wheel arch at all? If so it looks like the guy that sprayed your wing before hand didn't spray well enough around the lip therefore leaving a lip to catch onto

I know this doesn't offer any help with Ian's problem, but that paint damage seems to remind me of each of these:

More than needed because I need to sand it back, I couldn't get it quite perfectly flat so deliberately over-sprayed (amount wise) to allow for a wet sand although crapping myself about doing that bit lol

Thanks Rich, as said on the phone, the offer is very much appreciated and I will keep it in reserve, thanks mate

Nope, I think it just tore the paint and got under it, was on the lowest pressure setting that I've used a million times before. The paint is horrible, it was just peeling off when I was trying to sand it back, don't think they keyed it properly when they sprayed it. Wasn't happy with the bit they did on the back of the car either but that part of it was a really cheap cash job so couldn't be arsed to take it back. I think once my finances are better it's time to invest in some spraying kit and start a full re-spray on it lol

Thanks mate, I know we've spoken about it before so didn't want to come across presumptious but knew you would because you'd said so. Massively appreciated as you know
