Default Old Laptop BIOS Reset Master Password

Guy's I have a really old Laptop on which I need to reset the BIOS password as I cant remember it.

I have tried everything under the sun but cant remember for the life of me.

I have been advised that there should be a "master" password that wipes it clean but cant seem to figure it out.

Mode is: Compaq Armada E500, and its old, but still works a treat.

I have www'd it but am struggling.

So far have tried: Compaq, compaq, KillBIOS, KillBios.

    HELP PLEASE.

Dont want it to be a case of opening it all up and taking off the CMOS battery!

    Thanks in adv!

I've got a copy of the manual, as I have one of those laptops, and it just says to disconnect the battery -you're welcome to a copy of it.
Getting to the battery is actually a piece of cake, as you just lever the strip above the keyboard off, and it's under there.

Alternatively serach google for Killcmos, It scrambles the cmos and clears passwords. You may have to turn off AV to download it as it gets reported as a Trojan. ..

I hope you are lucky with disconnecting the battery, I don't know this particular model but some of the earlier Compaq's held the passwords etc in EAROM (electrically alterable read only memory) which you need the Compaq utility to change.

This is the procedure suggested in the manual, so it should work.
