    Default To the bodyshop!

    March 2012

So then next phase has started! I dropped the car off at my Vauxhall dealers bodyshop yesterday for a bit of paintwork to bring it up to scratch!

So the work being done is as follow's :-

Bonnet painting to remove stone chips

Boot Lid Painting to remove a bad mark in the paint

Door Mouldings re-painted due to marks on the back edge.

GSi Arch Spats Painting and fitted

New Grill being finished and fitted

So here is the progress so far, I didnt get a picture of the boot lid for some reason but it is all stripped ready.

This is how I left it last night after dropping her off, all covered over in the bodyshop.

The GSi arch spats, all primed and ready to go are sat on the bonnet.

Grill off and Phil the painter checking the colour shade against the samples, original shade Flame Red is the perfect match, just like we did the bumpers a couple of years ago. Bonnet should be off by now being prepered.

    Door mouldings off.

John also stripping the boot of it's fixture and fittings.

    The grill so far!

Then this is how she was left at 5pm tonight!

So hopefully I will get a few new pics taken tomorrow! But it is looking good!

It is a shame in some ways to do this as she has all original paint! But if I want it perfect, then it has to be done!

Good job bud, cant wait to see the completed job.

I also got my GSI going into the bodyshop next week for front bumper respray, paint & fit front Irmy splitter, paint rear bumper and fit VXR skirt, pait and fit VXR boot spoiler and sort both rear arches that are starting to bubble. Being done by the best Body shop in the area who is approved repairer for Porsche, Landrover, Jag, Merc.... for a sum of £1500. Not the cheapest but you pay for a quality job.

Here's a bumper they did for me for my Vec B GSI

Very good Matt, it looks perfect now so when it comes back you wont want to drive it home

How you going to get it back without flies landing on the front

This is the dialema I have with the Vectra VXR

Do I keep the standard paint (stone chips and all) or get it resprayed.

Most of me says I want the car perfect, but is it perfect already with original paintwork?

Dont know, need to think about it more.

A few more pics of the bodywork being perfected!!

    All primed up and ready!

Door Mouldings and GSi arch Spats ready!

The man tasked with the painting, my good friend Phil!

    Base Coat Done!!

    Then the laquer is applied!!!

It should be all built up and ready to pick up tomorrow night!

I decided after talking to Phil that it would be best to also do the front wings, mainly because there was a couple of small chips and I would regret not doing it later, so it was done!

Makes me wish they did more colour options on the Insignia than white, black, silver and brown.....

why dont you change yours to an SRi VX-Line Red? Then spec leather, AFL and Flex Ride?

You'll get the parking sensors and styling pack, piano black trim and VXR steering wheel as standard then?

Actually not a ridiculous idea mate...

Just priced up a few options on the VX website, and with the Vx-Line red it works out the same price but obviously has the piano black trim, VX-Line kit, steering wheel and the 20" alloys. I'd actually save almost a grand by doing that, plus whatever I could sell the 20's for above the price of a set of 18's or 17's...

The only downside is the red colour. It's whether or not I could live with that...
