Claim your excess from his insurance, thats what I have done in the past. He admitted liability so why should you be out of pocket...

You'll have to pay it tothe repairers and claim it back through the insurance and due to my recent experience it doesn't matter if he admits its his fault that can quickly change when the insurance is involved and whatever you do don't sort it privately you may never see your money and it will be too late insurance all the way and good luck

Depends on what your excess is usually the insurance company will get that back from the other company and get that back to you, its worth paying by the sound of it as by what youve described the damage will be more than your excess anyway, if it was only a small scratch and your excess was say 500 quid and the damage was only 300 quid then it would be worth speaking to the chimp and maybe getting it done cash!!!

i bealive my voluntary is £250 and other is £150 something like that due to me being 22.

ive never been in this situation before so dunno how it all works.

he has admited liability to both me and the police.

so i have to pay the excess and then get them to claim that back from him?

You will get the excess back, not your fault so why should you be out of pocket.

Say this to your insurance company, and make sure you get a courtesy car while yours is in for repair.

You will pay the excess to your approved repairer if you need it doing quickly or if it can wait you will get the other side to pay for all repairs but that could take a couple of months or more depending on the other insurers speed to pay up they are not always that keen to part with money especially if they can see a way out. The insurance company will not accept the admission by the guy involved as he is not allowed to admit liability on their behalf and they will wait until they have analysed the reports from all parties.

If he has admitted liability in front of the police (who were presumably taking a statement) then go through the insurance. You may have to pay the excess but you will get it back from his insurers

I take it you took legal cover when you bought your insurance
