New key, chip and ecu

Hello all,
I have a T reg 2.0 16v vectra which my daughter lost the key for

. I have been told that if I buy a new key and chip from vauxhall it needs recoding at the dealer etc. I have also been told that if I buy a used key and lockset, chip, chip that goes under the steering wheel and ecu, this will do the job without recoding. If the used kit is working correctly will this do the job?

basically yes. the bit around the steering wheel is what recognises the transponder chip in the key.

As long as you have your key security code that should be in your hand book you should be able to get a new key ok.
i just had my spare key re-programmed today needed the security code to do this.VX charge £35 +vat for this unless you know someone
