I've done this on our 55 reg facelift club....switching 'em on with the rear fog lamp switch...They are not independent though...see this post for the background as to why I decided to do it this way....

seems you only now need the foglamp wiring then its easy to retro fit

all you will need is the both foglamp plugs and wiring which can be made
up then wiring connected to the fusebox.
check in your owners handbook and see which fuse it is and check if its in
    the location.

if you need any help etc then feel free to pm me

ive got the wiring if your interested

as from memory all fuseboxes can accept the upgrade
the wiring is to both front foglamps then connects to the fusebox in were
the fuse is,this will then require tech2 to activate them.

as long as the wiring colours for the front foglamps to the switch are
present then theres no reason why it wont work.

have retro fitted these to other members cars and was straight forward

its a black wire that goes to pinout no8 on the switch plug

you may find more than 1 black wire so make sure you check the correct
    pinout
