    Default auto electrician

just after some advice please, i cant stop my alarm randomly going off on my vectra estate sometimes it can be going off allday then for no reason will be fine for days. anyway ive rang a couple of auto electricians they both said that its much easier to disable the alarm rather than spend all day traceing the fault. they said it will not affect the immob or central locking or anything else on the car.
just wanted to check if anyone else had a similar thing done, all help much appreciated thanks

A tech 2 session may pic up a faulty sensor. Have you tried pressing the alarm button near the stereo, I think this disables the interior sensors?

Noticed in your profile you have an estate. Check the sensors on the rear side windows (boot area). There are sensors attached to the bottom of the windows (you need to remove the shelf supports to get to them) and it's VERY common on estates that these come away and is a very common cause of your symptoms.

They have a habit of pulling off the glass, it's a metallic strip basically.

Best pic I have to hand, you can see the connector in this one...

Try using the button on the dash to turn off the interior sensors...... If that stops the problem, then you know a sensor has gone.

Other top causes are the alarms internal battery starting to fail (makes the car think it's being stolen), door/boot/bonnet open switch water ingress and connector corrosion.
