Outside Temp Sensor

Hi guys, a couple of days ago the outside temp display in my 57 reg 1.8 SRi started just showing an 'f' and nothing else. Searching this site gave me the idea that it could be the sensor so I looked around and got one off eBay, item number 190430484589, which had loads of compatible Vauxhalls listed. When I tried to fit it today the display is still just showing 'f'. Is there anything else that could cause this problem or is it more likely another duff sensor?

I have replaced mine a few times now, I reckon my wiring into the plug that connects to the sensor is iffy so will be looking at doing a new soon. Wiggle the wires by the plug to see if yours cpmes to life.

TY I'll give that a go in the morning before work, and before i contact the seller to complain about him sending a duff sensor

Mine was reading about 8 degrees to warm.

Turned out the main plug the bumper wires go through (Temperature sensor and fogs) had a bit of moisture in it somehow and the temperature pin was green.

So a quick clean with some wet and dry and a spray of contact cleaner in the other half and its all fine now.

Its on the lower grill, passenger side roughly inline with the edge of the number plate. I got to mine by going behind the bumper just in front of the passenger wheel because I have the under tray fitted.

lol I know where the sensor is bud, as stated above i have changed it mine a few times now.. Its the particular part of the wiring loom where Lee found a corroded connector that I want to sort out as that is the weak point..

you will find that this is probably what is causing yours to go stupid as well

yeah thats the sensor, but was those wires in that plug that you cleaned up or somewhere else further back along the wires?
