Help with a Corsa C ?? Please !!

Had to tow my Grandads Corsa home 0700 this morning. (On the plus side, I got to try out the Vec for towing, no problems whatsoever)

Anyway, it suddenly cut out. All electrics work, car turns over fine but just does not fire.

I checked the obvious things, decided I would buy a crank sensor. Anyway, checked the net for location and come across a pedal test to read out he fault code. The fault coded refers to the camshaft position sensor, so happ I was thinking this would solve it but the car still does not fire...

Any suggestions ? I know its not a vec lol

What caused it to breakdown was he driving and what happened? Or did it fail to start after it sitting for a while?

Mine snapped on my Megane 1.6, engine just cut out, no noise or anything like i would have expected. when i tried to start it it just sounded like it couldnt start but was slightly higher pitch/faster where there was no compression.

Yes, cam and crank shaft sensors replaced..

Driving, when it apparently just cut out. He managed to roll into a bus stop. They said there was no noise, just simply cut out..

Its on about 50,000 2002 yr - never been replaced. 1.2 16v

You know what, your all making me think now. It could well be the belt.

Dont mean to scare you but i was gobsmacked when the AA came and told me it was the cambelt. I expected there to be a big bang if it snaped but it just cut out and wouldnt start back up.

What engine is it ? the 1.2's have chains so probably would have made a noise.

Yer, 1.2 and 16v I believe. You may be right Didnt realise they had chains.

Spanner light flashing?

Yes and it shows up crank and camshaft sensor position fault which I imagine would be thrown up for a cambelt failiure.....

Just off now to whip the camcover off and inspect.

On my Corsa C 1.0 12v when that happened it was the spanner light flashing, clock/dials not working and just a ticking when trying to start. Turnned out I needed a new ECU. My was a 2002 model and was a comman fault.
