    Angry Bad Reception!!!!!

Ok, I've had the vec for just over a year now and I've put up with this (minor, but annoying) problem all this time, but i've finally had enough now!

Right, the thing is I like to listen to MW stations on the radio (yeah, i'm becoming an old fart), everything is fine, until my car starts to move!?. As soon as the wheel makes so much as a half a turn, I get this horrible loud crackling (the type you get when listening to MW and you go under a national grid pylon!), which gets progressivly louder and more of a constant interferance the faster I go. Once I'm on the motorway doing speed, it's absolutley un-listenable, esp. in bad weather etc. Now, a few days back, as I was doing about 60 I just turned the ignition off, to position one, and dipped the clutch (so I'm coasting but the radio is still on), and Bliss!!!. The radio is crystal clear (as well as it can be in MW!). As soon as I put the ignition back on, it is back!!!!. I've tried swapping arials as I thought mine might be snapped, but it's the same, is it a possible earth fault?.
It just seems strange that it's fine when the cars stationary, so I'm wondering if there is an earth connected to the wheels / drivetrain?.
Or maybe something just needs cleaning?
My radio is just the bog standerd CD2005.
Any help would be great, Mike

For me, FM is fine, but i can't stand listening to generic ''CHEESY CHART FM'' local stations etc.......hence why I choose the MW stations.

I had the same problem and thought it might be the amplifier but was advised by a VX tech just to take the unit out and check the connections and low and behold the connectors that clip into the cage and the antennae plug had worked loose. I took the cage out and resited the plugs and cable plugged the set back in and its A1 (hope this helps)

My CDR2005 is exactly the same, AM is completely unlistenable. I believe it's noise from one of the ABS wheel speed sensors. I've had enough and just ordered a DAB head unit to rplace it.
