Default how to fit a new HU?

    hi guys,
after a long time a new mod for the vec i've just picked up my new HU for but i have no experience with ICE. the model is kenwood dnx9240bt. how do i connect it? is it plug and play (i have a pre canbus car, ccr2006 radio) or i should modify some installations, buy adaptors, swap pins etc..? here are a few quick pics of the unit and cables and an extract from the manual:

any idea what these could be for? the manual says "to relay box"?

btw here's the manual if i missed something and you think it's important

    http://images.kenwood.eu/files/prod/...install%29.pdf

    thanks

you need to swap the red/yellow wire.

if you want illinumination to work correct you ahve to find the correct pin. If you want your steeringwheel buttons to work. then you need a adaptor to fit.

If you're not happy doing it mate then I'd find someone to do it. It shouldn't cost more then about £30. It'd be a shame to ruin such a nice piece of kit for the sake of £30. Fitting it isn't the hard bit. Getting the old one out is!

The dimming feature worked on my kenwood just by plugging it in

The half cans are easy to connect in mate

    thanks for your replies guys

@ kenp - where are those 2 yellow/red wires, are those the battery and ignition wires on my kenwood loom?

@ keith, thank for your generous offer but i'm about 2k miles too far

do i then need to swap anything else or i just plug it in? will it work with ignition ie turn on/off with the car like the factory fitted HU?
and where can i ground the handbrake sensor so that i can use all functions all the time?

Yes just the same as the standard stereo although it won't turn on without the key in the ignition

Yep, and as Ken said you need an adaptor if you want to use the steering wheel controls

any ground would work.. eg. by the light in the glovebox, or cig-ligther.
