Default diesel tuning box performance comparison

hello, ive got a thurlbysport tuning box on my 1.9dcti 120 and ive been messing about timing the acceleration etc and recording the average times. the plan is to compare them with the de-chipped times which i will do this coming week.

i found a copy of auto express where they were road testing a 150cdti so i did the same acceleration sprints, 30-50, 50-70 etc, several times and took an average for comparison.

so i should have a fairly reliable comparison with both a standard 120 and 150.

if your interested i will collate the results and post them up here very soon

it's fairly easy to see that the boxed figures will be better...i'd even expect it to beat a standard 150...but not a boxed one..

well so far i have the following, using the standard 150 roadtest as a benchmark:

    0-60 chipped 120 is 0.7s, 7.6% slower than the standard 150
    30-70 chipped 120 is 0.4s, 4.5% faster than the standard 150
    30-50 in 3rd chipped 120 is 0.5s, 9.3% faster than the standard 150
    30-50 in 4th chipped 120 is 0.4s, 7.7% slower than the standard 150
    50-70 in 5th chipped 120 is 0.1s, 1.2% faster than the standard 150

thats all i have so far. its interesting though. i wasnt that happy with the 0-60 test so i will redo that one

I thought most acceleration tests these days were done to 0 - 62 mph.

Were your speed readings calibrated or just as indicated on a standard speedometer?

the figures were just recorded by me armed with a stop watch in the car. they wont be ultra accurate. i just did several and took the average. the comparison figures are from the auto express road test. i will post a full list of times and comparisons if people are interested

theyre not meant to be mega accurate. i was just interested in what the approximate performance increase is. i will remove the chip and do the same thing in a couple of days.

just out of interest, have any of you guys got the thurlbysport chip?? my dad has one on his 150cdti and its a monster

Well auto express won't be 'mega' accurate either so 6 and half a dozen. I tried a 120PS with a DiagnostixUK box once, felt alot quicker than the standard 150PS. Nothing on my beasted up 150PS though, the rollers today reconed I was putting out over 250bhp?!? I'm not convinced but it's fast enough... for now.
