Fitted my new black rear boot light today and completely smashed the old one to bits. Does anyone know how the hell are you meant to take them out without damaging them?
Will get pics up asap but a group of birds has used my car as a toilet.

I'm sure i read that you can push it out from inside the car, looking forward to pic's,before and after.....
I tied that but it's completely covered up, seems strange though. The way it's designed suggests that it should come out from inside the boot.
glad you raised this mate as i am about to install my new "dark style" light and was wondering how it came out. I did strip the bootlid lining back last night and had a look and it looks to be clipped in, tried pushing it out and it was stuck fast so i think i'll have to go with your method and rip it out, with care so as not to damage the boot though!!!
if anyone has any other tips i'd be grateful.
Try the search button, I did & found this hth ......................

Did search mate, came up with pretty much no explanation for what I had. Although I did just find out that if you don't have access to the back of the brake light after removing the trim (like I did) you're meant to drill some holes in the boot
Saved myself a lot of hassle by just breaking it off it seems.
Try to wiggle it out first but doubt you'll be able to. There are 3 metal clips that will almost certainly get stuck leaving you no option but to rip it out. Hope you've got small fingers to clear up the broken plastic that may fall inside the hole
There may be another way but I can't see how it'd work.
