    Default pre-faclift 3.0 v6 cdti remap

just had a quote from Angel Tuning based in cookstown n.ireland but i believe the have bases across the uk.

this is what he wrote ,what do you guys think.
he sez an extra 40-50 bhp and an extra 4-5 mpg.
    £280 all in.
he is offering a 25% discount through another forum i am on,is this a good price and has anyone else used Angel Tuning?

i would also like your thoughts on remapping this engine ie is it worth it,would it cause more engine wear etc

230bhp would be achievable without too much smoke but I would be shocked if you got more MPG.

I'm sure people will be along shortly to warn you of the possible pump failure though.

this is my concerns i wouldn't mind a remap for a bit more poke and fuel economy but i don't want to chance expensive wear and tear engine bills like fuel pump

There have been some issues with remaps and tuning boxes on this engine. But most seem to be confined to the facelift model (high pressure pump and DPF problems are common).

The pre-facelift model isn't quite so bad,but it's best not to go for maximum power and torque if you're wanting to have anything like 100% reliability.Parts for these engines are not cheap and I would think about some sort of after-market warranty before attempting any sort of radical tuning on these engines.

Be warned that a remap will take the gearbox above its 'certified' maximum torque loading (Angel tuning will not tell you this!).So you have to worry about not just the engine, but all the bits between it and the tyres!

But don't let me put you off.As long as you're not 'ragging' it everywhere, all should be well.

Just posted on "Engine and Drivetrain" section.

"My Signum is still with Vauxhall and I am begining to give up all hope. They have changed the EGR valve, DPF and are now waiting for a fuel pump. I have little confidence that this will fix the problem. Anyone any ideas I could suggest to Vauxhall as I am begining to think they are not going to fix this one? This is my 2nd V6 cdti, my previous 04 Vectra was not a problem at all engine wise"

Facelift V6 cars do seem to be a problem.LOL

If you had a custom remap, they could put the torque limiters to 300lbft; that way you would see a small increase in torque but a reasonable increase in power without risking the gearbox.

It's also hard to say where an improvement in fuel consumption of 4-5 mpg is possible when the engine is already more than flexible enough with its standard quota of torque.Driving around in 6th at 30mph won't be any more economical than driving around in fourth or fifth gear at 30mph.Driving economically means driving around in the 'most appropriate' gear for any given speed, not necessarily the 'highest' gear.

My brother has a Punto 1.9 CDTI and had his mapped by someone else (not sure who, but now 170BHP!) but over on the punto forum he said they were well thought of. I thought they were mobile though? Ie they dont put it on the rollers. Thats why he went somewhere else. Makes it a bit difficult to quantify the gains, I assume they do a road test after.

I am interested also, I have a CRD2 on the lowest map and it makes a big difference over standard and its not much more smokey, who looks behind when you are accelerating so hard! I know its no the best way to go though, so would want something more long term.
