3.2 scum

A Friend has got a scummy header tank & its using water its a 3.2, Its covered by AA warranty & he was pointed to a garage who 'done a couple of things' (in there words), when he asked what, the reply was 'a couple of things', it sounds like head gasket, but they have done some kind of emissions test & said the gaskets fine!, well we all know our experiences with bad garages!, so to all the 3.2 owners is there anything else on this engine that this could point to ?. many thanks & at the moment i have little details & Ive not looked at it.

if he's covered by an AA warranty can he not take it to a VX dealer or can the AA not supply a list of reputable garages in his area?

He contacted the AA & they sent him this this place, he's tried phoning them again but gave up today after 45mins. Me personally id want nothing but main dealer service. but its hit & miss with them as we all know.

That's definetly the heat exchanger/oil cooler that's away. It's gets coroded leaks and mixes the oil and the coolant.

sounds about right, im on a jolly tomoz fetching daughter from s'hamton so will try to find out more info when i return.

good Q jezzy, just txt now to ask but i think it maybe an auto! .

All the 3.2s have them mine is a manual and it has been replaced. Not easy as its in the middle of the 2 banks and takes a good stripdown.
