Independent Garages!

It was time for 'er indoors little Hyundai Getz to have a full service (fourth year), so out of interest rang the main dealer. Fell off my chair laughing..£310 quoted. I asked them if I'd rang the Porsche garage by mistake. "But we do all the checks sir".

Took it to the well thought of little garage near me. Did a FULL service (as in takes you around the car, showing everything that's been done, changed,oiled, greased etc). He also said the front brake pads were low so he changed them while he was at it. No labour charge, just £20 for the pads.

Total bill £140. I don't mind paying that knowing everything's been done correctly. It's nice having someone who knows what he's doing, rather than some spotty YTS youth at the dealers. (And it went straight through the MOT-bonus)

my brother in law runs a little garage and he does an excellent job! Always has loads of repeat customers and always booked up, well worth saving your money for a better job!

I think you will always get a better deal, both cost and quality from the "little" indipendant garage. They do seem to take more pride in their work.

I'd second that for sure, they even take more pride when you keep going back too.
