I have spoken to a few remappers, the EGR can be coded out.
Be very careful on who and how they remap the car, if all they want to do is raise fuel pressure then be wary. One of the differences betwee the Y30 and Z30 is that the turbo has an electronic actuator as opposed to a vacuum operated one so it should be possible to increase boost.
When you car does a DPF regen it increases injector timing to esentially over fuel the car, if a modest change in injector timing was made, along side a slight increase in fuel pressure and boost then you could be onto a winner.
I live remap would be the best way to go, that way alot of the different parameters can be chaged/tested.
Make sure that the guy remapping your car just doesn't turn off the EGR as this will still throw up the EML.

From the 5 wires attached to the EGR, according to the wiring diagram they are as follow:
    Pin 1 - 5 Volt Reference
Pin 2 - Sensor Low Reference
Pin 3 - EGR Recirculation Valve Sensor Signal
Pin 4 - EGR Recirculation Valve Motor High Signal
Pin 5 - EGR Recirculation Valve Motor Low Signal

Not sure how much this will help you.
