Default How to remove lower grill

Hi I have a Vectra C 53 reg, I'm trying to remove the lower grill without breaking it.
My bonnet release is broken and I've read on here that you can reach up through the bottom grill and release it, I can see a clip but it looks like it would be secured in more than one place.
Trying to do this without breaking it if possible, any help would be great. going to go have another go in the meantime.
    Thanks in advance

you cant reach. trust me i cut a gap in mine to try it. unless your arms are really thin and unfeasibly long.
remove the bottom engine tray and poke a long bar up to flick the lever.

Thanks, I had a look but it looks like that cover is attached to the front bumper somehow as I tried removing the screws but it won't shift.

The only way is to remove the bumper first and depending how long your arms are the bumper slam bar as well .
Your lucky you dont have a dti with those you have to take everything off before you can get to the latch

I did it in my facelifted one. U need to push palstic framework inside till all latches (is it good word?) let go and be careful not to damage air cooler. Then try to take it out from the bumper. Hope it helps

    Cheers

Thats one of the problems with owning a Vectra.
You need the ability to disarticulate joints when working on them.(I have heard,on good authority, that VX employees bring their children in on school holiday periods to do all the "fiddly and awkward" jobs!!!!).FELIXX.

If you have the original front grill then the best bet is to just break it and then get a replacement one from a breakers . But if you have one of the Irmscher ones like me then its a pain to have to remove it , i have done it three times in all and can get it done in about two hrs but to do that i have to remove the bumper ,then the bumper slam bar , i can then get my hands up behind the grill and with a small ratchet set undo the eight nuts to remove the grill , (original vx grills are fixed by self tappers).
If you have the plasti/rubber valance,s then theonly option is to break it of at the centre point , you can then get to the release spring.

I do have a DTI, which is probably why I'm having a mare trying to get to anything, weather isn't helping either.
