LPG
Does anyone have it?
What car do you have it on?
What do you think of it?
Did you fit it or have it fitted professionally or already there when you baught your car?
Is performance and mpg the same would you say?
Reason i am asking is i am wondering if it is worth doing with milage i do. Between 20000-25000 per annum
some have done it, some good reports and some bad.. I believe you need to use the Prins system for the Z20NET though or you will end up killing the engine..

i imagin it would take around 3 years before you see any difference. Between cost of kit& fitting compared to fuel saved

Average mpg is 27-28 doing around 600 miles per month of mixed urban/motorway miles roughly 50/50 split.
The running on LPG is seamless, you really don't feel the difference. The system is such that they are designed to start on petrol, and switch over automatically as soon as the engine temperature is deemed warm enough (usually about 3-4 minutes and before the water temperature guage has risen off cold). You can switch at your will on the press of a button between Petrol & LPG and when stopped, after a restart as said on petrol, it will revert to the last driver selection in use.
For me, my "justification" is that with LPG unchanged in price at my local station in the 12 months I have now had the car (69.9 pence per litre) that means that I am either running on half price fuel, or to look at it another way, getting the equivalent of 54-56 mpg with a 3.2 Gsi. Either way it is a no brainer as to whether or not it is cost effective for me
After you have done your research into which engine you would like to run with lpg, talk to a conversion specialist and ask them if there are any pitfalls with that specific lump, but in reality there aren't going to be many that won't be suitable for LPG.
Fitting price, probably somewhere around £800-£1000 and waving some cash around will probably get you a better deal as I have since discovered whilst chatting at the pumps with Range Rover & BMW Drivers.
Take your annual mileage and mpg figure and multiply out the annual fuel cost. Divide it by 2 and that's what you can expect to save each year with that engine. Payback time is going to depend on your annual cost saving but of course at 20-25,000 miles per year, subject to your MPG average, I would expect your payback time to be much quicker than 3 years.
My own quick and dirty calculation
Assuming 40mpg and 20,000 miles per year - Consumption is 500gallons or 2227 litres (4.454 ltrs per gallon)
2227 litres at £1.40 a litre is £3,117.80 so if lpg is half the price, you would save £1558.90 in your first year alone !
AND that assumes you are even getting 40mpg, anything less than 40mpg with the same annual mileage and your saving just went up !
Yes there will be ongoing costs to factor in. A higher cost in Spark Plugs (I just bought a set which the guy at NGK said he wouldn't be surprised to find they were still good after 60,000 miles so again a higher spark plug cost -£79.56 for 6xLPG1 plugs)
and there is a lpg service which is pretty much a "checkup" as far as I can tell together with a new lpg filter recommended annually. I'm not sure but have assumed £100 overall ? And finally there is the cost of replacement of any parts that fail, unsure of the cost here as it hasn't happened to me as yet, and finally there is the cost of a LPG tank pressure test which I think, but am sure someopne will correct me if I'm wrong, is every 5 years (could be 3 thinking about it).
Drawbacks ? - Yes I lost the space for a spare wheel in the boot and now have a space saver living in the boot full time. and also a spare wheel well tank/"donut" is only 55 litres so not a great deal. You can have a bigger tank, but on a Vectra it would have to fit permanently in the working boot space.

Thankyou so much for taking the time, i am either going to fit it to my signum 2.0T if i am keeping for myself (wont be selling if i get other car) or getting it fitted to my next car which as you will see in my other post is what i am looking at, the 2.2 direct is nice but think the 1.8vvt looks better it i also and i really think i should go look at it! But if i buy i am going to pay extra for an LPG kit and tinted windows i think! But LPG is as you said "a no brainer" it should be coming on cars or advertise more than hybrids as it appears to be better as most hybrids make more poluttion during build than a car does its whole life lol. No problems fella, good luck with whatever you decide to go with. A final thought, the better the original mpg and the lower the annual mileage (ie 50mpg, 10,000 miles per annum) then the payback is nowhere near as fast as it is on a gas guzzling high annual mileage motor so you should re-do the sums when you know the engine mpg and the annual mileage of the chosen car.

LOL Nige, I looked and couldn't find it. It would have been so much easier than retyping all that
I had it fitted in my old V6 Vec B and LOVED it ! , used to cost me £35 a week to run
Planning to get the Signum done at some point this year too,
How much difference does having the conversion done have on the road tax you pay on a V6??
