Default New rear shock absorbers. What's best?

2.2 Direct Elite Auto. Standard suspension with 78,000 miles on the clock.

Vx dealer has just quoted me approx £99 each for 2 new rear shock absorbers (supplied, but not fitted). After I picked myself up off the floor I looked around the net for some.

    Monroe are approx £32 each.
Bilstein B4's are approx £38 each.
    KYB are approx £46 each.

Spoke to Autovaux this morning on the phone and was quoted approx £54 each for aftermarket and approx £75 each for OE Vauxhall ones.

    All excluding delivery.

What would you recommend that would compliment the standard and original front suspension?

Also, could someone confirm one of the fixing bolts is a T20 torx and the other a T18 torx? There are 2 how2 guides and one mentions both torx bolts are T20. If one is a T18 then I'll need to get another socket.

    Thanks.

Are there different rear shocks for SRi and non-sri, or are they all the same?

i'd go for the bilstein b4's, i cant remember the torx size but i do remember the one at the top is a different size to the one at the bottom.

    Thanks for that.

FYI - I need some on mine, but I am going for Monroes.... http://www.monroeshop.co.uk/rear-mon..._p23111933.htm

Looked into it a bit and reckon they will be best for my (everyday) needs (just hope they are right for the SRi ).

    Guess not then, reply from Monroe (for info);

Unfortunately Monroe don't offer a shock absorber for the SRi version, this is because this model came with slightly different sports suspension. If you check out a Vectra forum someone may be able to point you in the right direction.

Anyone else got any other recommendations apart from the Bilstein B4?

Thanks to those who've replied so far.

This made me chuckle..Irish or what..Please note: These shock absorbers are sold individually - if you require a pair, please order two.
