Default My DPF only has one sensor pipe...

    As the title really

Took the DPF off the car to *adjust* it today. There was only one sensor pipe going into it (as well as the temp sensor)

Once I'd refitted it I looked in the engine bay to find the "black matchbox" with two pipes so I could crimp the smaller one - found a small black box (to nearside of fuel filter, lower down) with wires going in but only one rubber pipe.

So there's two types of DPF? One with two sensor pipes and two pipes on the matchbox, and another type with only one pipe?

(Weird - all the How2s etc only talk about the two pipe versions)

    *Additional weirdness*

Blanked EGR a week ago, didn't get an EML and no fault code stored in ECU. Gutted DPF yesterday, didn't get an EML or a fault stored for that either.

    Any ideas?

How long have you driven it for after blanking? It can take up 50miles+ before realises something's wrong.

Either it has been disabled already or someone may have taken the emissions light out (if it illuminates when ignition on then it's fine). It's an engine shaped symbol.

How did you go about gutting the DPF?

How do you know all the insides are out?

I've been quoted lots of different prices for getting it done from £150-300+

If it can be done at home, it will cost me lunch for my mate to help out.

Driven for 400+ miles with EGR blanked, 100 or so with DPF gutted.

Warning lights all work, no fault codes on the ECU.

Removed from car, drilled with longest drill bit I could find, attacked with SDS chisel, smashed out the remaining lumps with hammer and drift.

The key thing to getting it to fall out is to get the hole all the way through the middle, even if you hammer large screwdriver in, then drift it through with 1/2" SD extension bar or whatever - it's smashing through the middle that makes the job easier.

Because they are all in a bag in the bin.

Possibly the most pointless motoring expense that was ever fitted to a car. From what I can make out, the DPF's simply store the particulates then throw them out later. They really need to come up with a better way than this as this technology is ****e.
