Insp showing on mileage after going past 50000 miles

Morning everyone I went to Cannock last night to watch the game and upon returning home my mileage screen is showing insp 1000 it has just done 50100 miles but I have already had a service and mot is this a 50000 mile check up or something

Whoever did your service did not reset the service light indicator - it needs resetting - easy to do - loads of posts showing how to do it

Is it not foot on the brake and hold in the mile reset button then turn the ignition on and hold it till it resets sure thats how i did it

No it was reset when I had my service and has been at least 6 months since I have put 6000 miles on it and it has come on again

That will teach you not to go to Cannock To reset it -Ignition off, foot held on foot brake & then whilst holding the foot brake & mileage reset button on speedo, turn on ignition hold all till display flashes or newservice mileage appears.

Can the service light be reset before it actually appears?

I'm not sure, I know on VAG cars it cant be reset unless the light is displaying. A SEAT i was driving at some point in recent times, I was advised by the dealer they couldnt reset the service counter, as it wasnt displaying the light. They advised me to return to them as soon as it displays. I'd had the car serviced about 2000 miles early as I was going for a drive across Europe, equating to around 1500 miles and wanted the service completed before i left, to ensure car all prepared for the journey!

Yes, as some people have the service carried out before it is due, and the reset forms part of the Schedule (one of the last items)
