    Default online tyres

has anyone ever had this happen . i brought a pair of tyres off a ebay company . when fitting them one has a hole just above the tyre size numbers . i tried to speak to the company and they have told me that the tyre has to be sent back to them and get tested and it will take 5 weeks . because they think i done it when fitting and they wont give me my money back . so i had to buy another tyre from them so i had 2 . the company has a 7 day returns polciey and i returned it to their bussiness address that was on their site and now the are saying they have not got it . but it got sign for . i got proof of when i got and when i sent it . does this sound like they are trying to pull a fast one

If you have proof of return then log it with paypal and you will get a refund. Also if you used a cc through paypal then do a charge back

    Depends on the description
If it advises it was pressure tested, then there is no way it had a hole in it!

As with all used tyres an issue can become apparent on refitting
The seller should simply have sent a replacement on receiving the photograph proof
The cost of return is prohibitive, equally the seller should have covered this cost

    Check the sellers feedback
If it is less than 100% on used tyres, do NOT use

I have bought a few used tyres through eBay UK, but I only purchase local tyres that I can physically examine in person
They don't come up very often, but I've not had any issues or problems on any of them
Rather than use PayPal, I advise the seller I will pay cash on collection, which saves the seller on those fees and postage

If you have sent it back, have proof they received it, then advise them it has now been returned and what action you expect them to carry and out, and in what timescale

The 5 weeks the seller mentions may be to avoid the 60 day cutoff for chargebacks / disputes

Personally, open a dispute anyway as the item has been returned
You can leave it open until resolved to YOUR satisfaction
As it is a new item (and that is assuming the seller used this description), then you have more rights
They should also cover the costs of return postage

However a used item does not even need to be returned, a seller can decline this (even if they accept returns)

I'd get his address, pop round, and give his wife something to hang her washing on! That usually solves disputes quickly LOL
