confused Washer level sensor hole size???

    Hi guys n gals

Can anyone tell me what size drill bit I will need for the Washer level sensor hole???

Got all the bits and have even sprayed the headlight washer covers but noticed my new reservoir has not got a hole for the level sensor.

Largest drill bit I have is 15mm but thinking that won't be big enough

Will hopefully get started with the install late next week but just trying to be better prepared

    Many thanks

22mm springs to mind. I think Ian_Highlander drilled his on his old saloon might be worth pm'img him. BTW when you say your new reservoir has not got a hole for the level sensor, is it a 5.2Lt one? Should come with a hole id have though.

I can't remember, I know I didn't have the right size so ended up drilling several small holes and filing it out by trial and error.

(Damn you've got a good memory DasArab lol)

The bigger reservoir should have the hole already though I would have thought, I've got one sat here with all the headlight washer bits waiting for me to fit them and that has both pumps and a sensor in it.

Cheers for that Ewan, didn't think I'd have the right size drill

The reservoir I bought was 5.6L (pic below) and deffo doesn't have the hole drilled

Might end up doing the same Ian Was thinking of buying one of those step drill things but the only one I can find is a sealey that goes up to about 30mm for £30. Which is a bit much to only use the once.

So might follow your advice and get handy with the old file

Thanks Ken, will have to get inventive with the tools.

When I get round to removing my old reservoir, I'll take the sensor out and get the vernier calipers on it and found out the exact size. It may help others if they encounter the same

    Many thanks

Ah cool. I take it you got the rubber grommet that fits to the reservoir? What I would do is take a steel ruler and measure the width of said grommet. Then measure the depth of the gap that seals the grommet to the hole in teh reservoir. Then remove the depth from the width to give you the size of hole, and just to be on the safe side make it 1mm less.

Hopefully it will just be a matter of taking the sensor and grommit out of my existing reservoir and swapping it over to the new one in the pic.

Was just trying to prepare in advance really to save taking the bumper off and finding that my drills weren't big enough then having to put it all back together to go out and buy one

Think I'll try and get the daughter round when I start the job, if it goes pete tong, I can get her to drive me down to the hardware store lol

    Muchas gracias mate
