Default MPG on a Auto 1.9 CDTi 150

I'm struggling to reach an indicated 35 mpg around town... God knows what the real figure is...

Has anyone got one of these, and what mpg do you get?

Around 35 in town sometimes a little better and 47 on motorways doing too much town stuff at the moment though and that's not cheap.

I've resorted to driving in in semi-auto mode so that I can shift up sooner than it would do in normal drive mode!

Maybe I should have bought a 1.3 diesel Polo or something

My 150 Auto mpg figures are - 30-35 around town; 45+ longer motorway trips and mixed driving - i.e a full tank average 40mpg (exactly what the Vx figures would suggest). I also shift up on A roads where the car tends to want to sit in 4th at 45-50 mph.

I have tested my BC readout with 'brim-to-brim' manual calculations and it is fairly accurate - within 1 MPG normally.

Managed this yesterday on a 110 mile run from Bristol to Bicester - after a return trip in the gales/rain and through rush hour it reduced to 55.4 mpg (after 220 miles). Happy with that for an Auto!

I get the same around town, at the moment it is saying around 33.2mpg average, it is a right alcoholic around town but on the motorway it is a beast and will easily do 55-60mpg.

Do you find better consumption when going around town in semi-auto?

What's the performance like on an auto, worth mapping and messing with at all?

Tbh although the car sometimes feels like you should change up if you do with the BC instant fuel consumption showing it often decreases mpg.
