    Default Airbox Mod

Just been reading some positives to the Airbox Mod, relating to removing flat spots (which I have slightly), seems like most of the engine sizes benefit from this, what is the actual procedure for this mod? all as I could make out without spending too much time on the PC (works one!!) is some plastic part needs removing, what bit? any photos? as don't remember seeing any part that could be removed last time I changed the filter.
    Cheers Pete

if its a cold air intake kit then it should be fine as it is.

when i did my 1.8 i noticed the differance.
but i did K&n filter removed cone and put the shorter air intake pipe and reset the ecu(just dissconect battery) all in one go and it took all the flat spot out and seemed to make it a bit more responsive.

I did the mod on mine and fitted a K&N Filter. Total and utter waste of time in my opinion. Not a jot of difference in anyway. No flat spot removal, probably because there were never any flat spots in the first place and certainly no difference in acceleration.

Some say it works for them. That's fair enough, but for me it definately didn't make any difference whatsoever. in fact after about 2 months I put the old filter back and the plastic bit from the box to see if I'd notice a difference the other way round. No difference at all. I've left the plastic bit in there now and put the K&N Filter back in, but purely because I bought it so why not use it

When you say you fitted the shorter air intake pipe , was this the VXR one?
