    Default Another 150cdti poll!

Sorry guys but I have been wondering about this for a while so thought I would get a poll going

As we all know the 150 does have rather a bad rep on here for problems, however the majority of people who endure these problems seem to be town drivers or multiple short journeys.

Just wanted to see if you have any issues and how your car is driven?

I know people are abit superstitious when writing in posts so just vote if you don't want to jinx yourself!

I have owned car since jan and done 15k (47k on speedo) with no issues, car lives on motorway!

Motorway driving is where these cars excel. The DPFdoes not like short journeys. And constant pulling away and stop start traffic is not good for the DMF and clutch.

I have replaced the thermostat on my 150 CDTI Exclusiv and by sounds the DMF is waiting to be addressed. Got 93000 on the clock in three years!
Lots of niggles with the car overall - Rattles inside, suspension noises, shocking handling etc.

Only done 7K in mine, and no problems as yet. EGR, flywheel and clutch had already been replaced before I took possession of it.

My driving is mixed say 50/50 urban/non urban. I just make sure I give the engine a chance to 'stretch it's legs' wherever possible, and not just on long journeys.

I've only owned mine for around six weeks, and covered around 1800 miles.
It's used for commuting to work and back, only a 4 mile journey each way. But does get used on longish motorway jaunts, about every two weeks so far.
When going on longer journeys I use Shell diesel, otherwise Asda stuff.

    No probs so far

My dads had his SRI CDTI 150 for 3.5 years, done about 30k miles in that time (now got 38k), has had new inlet manifold, DMF, swirl actuator, airbag ECU (all under warranty). BUT the biggest issue was of recent with the EGR valve. Car is driven light, majority local, and only gets pounding when I drive it. Otherwise dad tends to like slow speed combined with high gears. Its a 2005/55 facelift.

That's interesting. I wonder, I drive mine enthusiastically and have had no probs, mixture of local 10-15 miles each way and motorway and have had no probs, Can it be driving them carefully, high gears, slow speed, colgs them up? My wife's old Mitsubishi Spacewagon was designed to run on Super Unleaded, badly coked up when she bought it, she was told not to potter around trying to keep economy light on, let the engine rev. I know that's not a CDTi, but it ranng a bell about the driving style.
