You should've asked around and asked some members if they could help you to see if it worked before shelling out on tech2... because it could also be wiring and with you having the y30dt, it's even harder to fit parts that aren't virginized, simply because it's half canbus....
On the other hand you now got tech2 so you should be able to created a bench setup and access both ecu's.
You'll need part of the ecu cable and an obd2 port, plus a proper pinpout layout (maybe plasma can help) but once you got that you can use that same setup to recover your money

I have just PM'd @plasma to see if he is willing to help. He's helped me out with a few things over the years so fingers crossed he can get me further wiring info.
My 3.0 is full canbus. I've metered all the cabling out today and it seems that it's all present and correct.
I have millions of cut off cables and connectors so hopefully I can fashion something to make a bench tester.
