    Default Wiring sidelights to cigarette lighter?

    As titled can this be done? Am sure I read something before, Just I am wanting to get the led type bulbs for the sidelights...how hard do you think it would be to wire up?thanks

    Easy, couple of wires and a switch fed to the front of the car...

    Edit: i was looking at the blanking plates for the heated seat switches today, i reckon switches would fit there nicely...

    Or if you want them on all the time like DRL's just dont bother with the switch. I would put an in-line fuse on the +ve feed just to be on the safe side. So I take it you would get 2 bulb holders from another car and leave your original sidelights taped up somewhere Good idea

    yep use bulb holders from another car, was thinking of the cigarette lighter circuit as it comes on when unlocking the car and when sidelights are switched on...2nd set of mtec's gone now

    i would take it from the fuse box under the bonnet..theirs bound to be a switch live in their.. that comes live when cars unlocked?

    great idea though

    Switch live will definately be in the Under-bonnet Engine Fuse Box...
    Just look in the owners manual for a suitable take off point.

    This will also save the hassle of messing with removing the scuttle panel, to get at the grommet that you would need to use to get from the engine bay, to the insides, behind the glovebox.

    relay 5 is the ignition live - "Terminal 15"
    you could use fuse 14, which is the "head lamp wash system" fuse.

    to do it properly, you could take a feed from the BCM, but that would involve the dreaded grommet etc.
