Default traction control and abs lights on....?

hey there got a problem with my vectra c the traction control light and abs light are both on constantly and wont do off w'eve had it on a dianostic tool and its came up with sensor fail in offside front hub obviously the full hub needs changed with the sensor but here's my problem....... i have a practical driving test early next week and i'm wanting to take it in the vectra and they will send me straight home if the abs/traction cnontrol lights are on constantly and that i dont want

so my question is can i disable the lights or bypass them some how?

also i dont have spare spondoolies to change the full hub right now so thats not an option.

    thanks.

I got a very similar (might even be the same) fault description a week ago. I was told Iwould need a new hub as the wheel speed sensor has failed and is built into the hub. The actual error I got was something like 'nearside front wheel speed sensor voltage high'.

On a hunch, I took the appropriate sensor wiring connector apart (at the back of thr wheelarch) and it had water in it. I dried this out, sprayed in a bit of electrical contact cleaner, then dried that out, put it back together and the fault light went out.

Might be worth a try - especially if the fault code you got was the same or similar to the one I got and because it's practically free.

PS - not sure if you can even disable the ABS/TC on a Vectra C due to Canbus, but why disable a safety system in any case? If you really do need a wheel hub, you'll have to save up and get one as soon as you can. Note that the ABS and TC won't work while the warning lights are on.

Sorry, didn't see the bit about the urgent requirement to get the lights off. Checking the wiring connector will take less that an hour - jack up, wheel off, unclip connector, clean and dry, put back together, check lights go out (which all fuses back in first!), then wheel back on and lower car.

The manual lists all the fuses in the fuse section - I think there's about 5 or so in 2 of the 3 fuseboxes. Download the manual from the Vauxhall website if you don't have a copy with the car.

This may still not switch it off though. The warning lights are probably controlled by whatever controls the instrument panel (the CIM?) which is being told to put them on by the ABS controller and they will probably stay on if the CIM doesn't get any signal at all from the ABS controller as that would class as a fault too.
