    Default Low Beam Error

    Morning everyone,
I got in my 56 Plate vectra SRI this morning and upon turning the lights on only one headlamp came on.
I turned the lights off and back on and none of the Low Beams worked and I received a low beam warning on the screen and light came on the instrument panel.

    Side lights still work
    Full beams still work

Anyoone know where I should start looking ?
I cant imagine it being a fuse as Full Beam and side lights still work.

    Any help or advice appreciated.

Not yet, thought it would be unusual for both to go at the same time, but yes thats the obvious first thing to try.

Unusual but likely answer... if no bulbs to change to now, and want to check there's no other issue... put the lights on, then take the bulbs out of the headlights but still connected to the car and give them a shake. if the filament catches it'll reconnect and light up (most of the time anyway)

In an emergency, swap the high beam bulbs to the low beam positions. OK, you won't have high beam, but you will have low beam..... which is more important most of the time?

Separate fuses for the main, dipped and side lights, IIRC.

Not possible. The OP's car is a 56 reg. The main/high beams use H1, the dipped beams use H7.

it was the bulbs that had blown, or will there be some underlying fault that caused them to blow....time will tell

Also bear in mind that the bulb failure system appears to be very sensitive. It will often detect a bulb that is working OK at the time but will probably - though not always - fail soon.
