the temp on my 1.8 shows that as well normal around town or siting at light and when on motorways it drops down to cool quite quick too
cheers , she seems to run fine just wanted to put my mind at rest. It's a big rad , so must be the air flow i guess. Have changed sender unit but the same. The bottom half of my rad is covered by card board as it's so cold and heater gets warmer and gauge works as you would expect / normal.
I replaced the thermostat on my 1.8 and it was like night and day. The temp ran constantly around 87 no matter on motorway or round town. In the traffic the temp would come up and fan kicks in. I would say try replacing the whole unit and I don't think you will be disappointed.
sorry I don't as it was a few years ago but they aint cheap as they come as a complete unit with sensor, housing and thermo all as one. The price is usually around the 50 quid mark
yes that was from the stealers.
Its expensive as it comes complete with the housing. It should be 85-90 all the time no matter what the outside temp.
Cheers chaps, it's on the "To do" list !
