    Default Protesting against fuel prices

I hijacked a different thread with this (Sorry to leemarksmith)

Started a facebook page and will do the same on Twitter and Youtube when I get the time
    http://www.facebook.com/n/?group.php...ac0G3b13332G40

Basically looking to boycott petrol stations on the weekend 30th Jan and I know many people think it won,t make a difference and it may not but it does say something to the government that we are tired of being abused by them

Being fellow Vx drivers hope we can all stick together on this one and whilst we are complaining join leemarksmith protest about ungritted roads!

    Thanks

The oil companies blame the govt and the govt blame "global warming"

Until this whole global warming/climate change scam has been full revealed for what it is, I don't have much hope of changing anything.

It's getting there, with scientists recently resigning because of pressure to lie about the facts/figures, but its us the people who keep the whole thing alive.

Maggie's attempts to divert protesters and justify nuclear power have had massive repercussions for us all.

As you say mate, it'll never work. Let's say everyone didn't get any fuel on that day - all peopl ewill do is make sure they have enough fuel for that day, and refill the day before if they need to.

On the other hand, if someone runs out because they had to make an unplanned journey on that day, then what are they going to do? Not fuel and just sit on the road?

The country runs on petrol, you can't just stop using it. It won't send a message to the Government, they'll just sit back and laugh.

Well there are shepards and there are sheep and the way I view it the government view us as sheep. I,m not saying don,t fill up the day before you would be rather silly not to but if everyone avoided the pumps that weekend the government would look at it. If the first one is successful than you plan another, but if you are happy to keep getting your hard earned wages taken from you sit back and do nothing thats what this country has become about. I listen to people moaning everyday but no one has the balls to stand up and say enough is enough.

How can the gov,t blame oil companies when they charge about 65% tax on a LITRE of fuel, its going into their pockets not ours and then in the paper today they have just wasted another 232 million on PR

Not filling up on a certain day will make no difference though - you'll still be doing the same journeys and spending the same, so it'll make no difference... The protest you want is the fuel delivery trucks blocking the forecourts or simply not delivering - that'll cause enough upset to get the government interested when the whole country grinds to a halt.

Team Vectra C -Com your mission is should you choose it is to hijack every fuel tanker in the country and block the forecourts

I hear what you are saying but if you keep kicking a dog one day it will turn around and sink its teeth into your arse

Unfortunately you are looking at this the wrong way. Yes boycotting is the way to go but not on a particular day. What we need to do is boycott a particular filling station. For example. If everyone didnt use Shell for a week then Shell would reduces its prices to get us to use them. Then refuse to use texaco and they will do the same. Etc etc. Unfortunately the filling stations can only lower prices by so much due to the high tax, and as far as the goverment are concerned if the high taxes stop us using our cars as much thats better for their targets

In 07/08 when fuel prices went high people started to use veg oil. Suddenly the prices went up the same as diesel yet if the government had given a tax relief on all those who own diesels and encouraged them to fill their car with 10 litres of veg oil every fill up it would have dropped our emmision levels to the target that we have to achieve set by the EU. Nope they increase the price of veggie oil and increased diesel prices...now thats just plain old greed for you
