    Default Air vent broken

My drivers side air vent is broken. The bottom slat has come out of the holes which hold it in place. It is ok when the vent is open as I can wedge it so it doesn't drop, but when the vent is closed, it drops to the bottom and leaves a gap.

I have tried for ages and can't fix it while in situ. How difficult is it to remove the vents, is there a guide?

    Thanks

Just pull the plastic trim below the airvent away from the dash, it's a bit tight, and there are only 2 torx screws that hold the vent in. Dead easy to remove once you get the silver plastic trim off!

    hi m8
if the bottom vent is broken then thiers a good chance that the fin carrier has snapped and you will need another whole airvent.

It's a common problem as the plastic guide for the slats is pretty thin, i've had the same thing on both the vectras i've had, you CAN repair it by removing and dismantling the vent, I've used araldite to repair the break, superglue isn't strong enough to hold, or you can just buy a second hand vent to replace the broken one...

The easiest place to find one is on ebay if you have access to it. They're always coming up on there, though fixing it should be simple enough.

the carrier was also broken on my 05 sri, but I repaired it. Used a heated screwdriver to melt the plastic together & heated the end of a paperclip & pushed into the end of then vent, then cut to correct length to replace the hinge pin on the end of the vent.

Worked fine for me & worth a go before you buy a replacement. Lasted months and as far as i know still working, as i've sold the car

Carefully prise/pull off the trim and you'll see this:

The two screws are obvious. This is what it looks like with the vent (and lights module) removed:

    Hope that helps!
